- 2014 started much the way it continued with more visits to Burger & Lobster.
- We gave a supposedly more authentic Mexican a try.
- I fell in love with Ruby's.
- I finally found Franco Manca and when they opened one five minutes away from my house on Broadway Market, it was a match made in heaven.
- French food at Almeida before taking my mum to see the all-male ensemble of Matthew Bourne's Swan Lake.
- L'Entrepot became the place of good wine and dreams.
- Disappointing meals at Grillshack and La Maison Touareg, and an alright one at the Dean Street Townhouse.
- I learned how messy truffle making can get.
- I went to my first Clapton Pot.
- And discovered the tiny, blink and you'll miss it Wilton Way Cafe.
- Made the first of many visits to Crate Brewery.
- Met Ella (my partner in crime) and gorged on yakatori and sushi.
- Tried out The Big Easy (disappointing), Psychic Burger (very good) and Soho House (amazing).
- Rolled with the homies at Earlham Street Clubhouse.
- Went to Spuntino yet again.
- Became a super sleuth in Secret Cinema's 1920s gangster set up.
- Had a couple with the Reverend.
- Found one of my new favourite restaurants - you must go.
- Met Irvine Welsh.
- Went back to The Clapton Pot for seconds.
- Checked out Hackney's Scandi-offering.
- A good meal with poor service at Victoria Park village fave, The Empress.
- Went South of the river (eek!) for the new Chicago Rib Shack.
- Was taken to see Miss Saigon for my birthday.
- Found another favourite favourite restaurant in Notting Hill.
- A mixture of small plates at Bones.
- And, weirdly, better sides and starters than the ramen itself at Tonkotsu East.
- Saw Ru Paul's Drag Race queens do their thang a couple of times in Camden.
- Moved house to Clapton.
- Wished that the Menier Chocolate Factory restaurant just served chocolate instead.
- Continued the annual outing to The Globe to see the amazing A Comedy of Errors.
- Went back to the Wick for a fab meal at The Hackney Pearl.
- Mixed feelings about the New Street Grill (aka big bill).
- And got my lobster fix from Mussel Men (half price on Tuesdays!)
- Ate some of the best burgers in town at Le Bun's opening. Boeuf bourguinon with truffle mayo anyone?
- Went back to the theatre for Shakespeare In Love.
- Hobbled back to Haggerston for the Jones&Sons new opening.
- Got schooled in gin and stellar martinis at Tanqueray's Drawing Rooms.
- Saw Lady Gaga and Jersey Boys and Ate at the Dead Doll's House, Hawksmoor's Spitalfield's Bar and Mangal.
- Met Oz Clarke for a craft beer tasting experience.
- Went to Brighton for a weekend away, drank lots of mulled cider, ate lots of MeatMission burgers and won £1 in the arcade.
- Tried Ink in Bethnal Green and found the promise of good food but small portions and hefty prices.
- And rounded up some of December's activities here. Think the Tower of London, Dandelyan and a white Christmas in Scotland.
Here's to lots more wine, food and adventures in 2015.
